Interest from 25 states, as well as Germany, Japan, and Spain, in how North Dakota’s economy has benefited from its state-owned bank

The Bank of North Dakota is still attracting interest from outside the state and abroad, according to its president Eric Hardmeyer, in an interview in the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank’s Fedgazzette newsletter.

Hardmeyer said that he had received inquiries from about 25 states, as well as Germany, Japan and Spain, that are studying how to establish similar banks and how North Dakota’s economy has benefitted from its state-owned bank.

Hardmeyer said that Vermont had done the most work on how it would create such a bank.
